Founded in 1972, HAPHousing (HAP) has led the fight to end homelessness in Western Massachusetts for more than 40 years. We take a collaborative, holistic approach to the problem, working with our network of partners to ensure that families have access to all the training and support services they need to return to stability and start on the path to self-sufficiency. Our mission is to "provide affordable housing opportunities, education and support; enabling people to achieve a better future and promoting vibrant, diverse communities." HAP serves low- and moderate-income families in Hampden and Hampshire Counties. Our services include shelter programs for families, pregnant teens, and domestic violence survivors; foreclosure prevention; housing stabilization; workforce development; consumer counseling & education; family self-sufficiency counseling & coaching; financial and homebuyer education; affordable housing development and management; and community building & organization. HAP serves as the region's Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC), providing information and counseling services to anyone with a housing question or problem. We also coordinate the Western Massachusetts Foreclosure Prevention Center, providing counseling services to those at risk of foreclosure in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire counties.
